ABOUT US
Biodiversity Rescue Club is a youth-led organization based in Calabar, Nigeria. The organization was founded in 2022 with the vision of an earth where all life forms have a natural opportunity to live. Nature and biodiversity loss—one of the three planetary crises—is our focal point. We address this challenge through restoration activities, advocacy, and education.
We are geared towards sustainable action. Although SDG 13—climate action—is our mainstay, our work overlaps other SDGs. We not only advocate for biodiversity conservation but are also committed to taking action to restore and sustain our biodiversity, as exemplified in our ongoing mangrove restoration project.
We are also particularly concerned about educating teens and schoolchildren about biodiversity and the problems our diverse biological ecosystems face. We ensure that children, our future, are aware of the planetary crisis and ways they can contribute to addressing the challenge. We have been providing biodiversity-related education to schoolchildren in Calabar for the past three years. We aim to ensure that our society learns to adapt and live with its current reality occasioned by climate change.
Our youthful staff and volunteers, especially the student population, are our strength. Members of our organization and our school clubs are called ‘Biorescuers’. You too can become one; simply share with us how we can work together via Pauloko@biodiversityrescue.club.
